Liz gives keynote speech at WFTV Awards Lunch - 7 December 2018

Today, the annual WFTV awards took place, hosted by Sandy Toksvig, at the Park Lane, Hilton. The headline sponsor was Sky.

The awards celebrated the success of  fourteen remarkable women. The award winners covered a wide area of TV and film, from drama to documentary, comedy to  current  affairs, reality shows to craft skills. As Liz  said in her  keyntoe speech: "In every area of television and film, our winners have  demonstrated exceptional achievement.

Undoubtedly, what our awards demonstrate today is the huge achievements women can make when they are given the opportunities, so I also hope this ceremony will give inspiration across our industry to all women, who are battling through to make a difference".

Many celebrities attended the awards including Michaela Coel, Mackenzie Crook, Stephen Mangan, Katie Piper and Katherine Ryan.

The winner of the most prestigious award -  the Lifetime Achievement Award -  Juliet Stevenson, gave a moving speech for which she received a standing ovation. 

This year's awards raised more money for WFTV than ever before.
