How Distributors are Changing Commissioning Practice - 18 March 2019 -

On Tuesday evening at a WFTV event Distributor Led Commissioning, Chair and Acting CEO Liz Tucker, talked to Hannah Demidowicz, following her appointment as TCB Media's  first commissioning editor.

Hannah's appointment, in what is claimed to be a first for factual distribution, reflects TCB's emerging status as a "mini-commissioner".

Hannah explained how TCB is now, in some cases, fully funding TV series before a broadcaster commissions them. It's an approach that several other distributors are now exploring too.

As more big mergers are finalised, Hannay argued that consolidation can be a positive thing for the smaller distributors. It challenges distributors to continue to find innovative ways to finance programming and build deeper and collaborative relationships with producers.
