How to Apply for the WFTV PL Bursary - 16 November 2020

Tonight's event, hosted by Chair and Acting CEO WFTV Liz Tucker, explained everything applicants need to know about applying for the Pat Llewellyn bursary. Joining her in the session were previous Pat LLewellyn bursary winners, Rachel Kaden and Victoria Mapplebeck.

Rachel and Victoria explained how the fund had helped them and played clips from the films that the bursary had funded.

Liz explained: "the fund is open to every woman, whether she has  worked in the industry before or not. WFTV is looking for promising, bold ideas that are suitable to be commissioned by a UK broadcaster. The fund will provide successful applicants with a mentor who can guide them and put them in front of the people who can make their idea happen. We realise that applicants without a TV background are likely to require more support for their projects".

This year the bursary fund islooking for onscreen talent-led documentary ideas suitable for commission by a UK broadcaster. So, if you think  you’ve discovered the next Stacey Dooley, Nadia Hussain or Louis Theroux and have a winning proposal that would work well with them, then please pitch your idea to the bursary fund.

All applicants are also asked to provide a clip of their onscreen talent
This should be no longer than two minutes. It doesn’t need to be edited, WFTV is not expecting a polished taster tape.

The bursary fund can be used for any aspect of the submitted proposal's development. This might involve meeting potential contributors, visiting locations, writing a treatment or shooting and editing a taster tape. We cannot provide production or finishing funds.

Applications for the fund close in March 2021.
