Liz Tucker hosts WFTV event with Mandy Chang - 18 March 2021

Commissioning Editor of the BBC’s Storyville and Head of Factual Acquisitions, Mandy Chang was in conversation with  WFTV Chair  Liz Tucker last night at WFTV's  Meet the Commissioner event.

Mandy talked about what for her is the essence of a successful Storyville documentary and explained what producers need to think about when pitching ideas to her.

To illustrate the range and variety of Storyville's output, Mandy played clips from
One in a Million, The Mole Infiltrating North Korea, Collective and The Night Notre Dame Burned.

Some structural changes are also taking place at Storyville.  The strand is moving under the remit of BBC Film, as part of a restructuring of the corporation’s filmmaking output.

Mandy Chang and her assistant commissioner Hayley Reynolds will now report to BBC Film director Rose Garnett.

Mandy and Jo Lapping will work in factual acquisitions across the BBC’s channels and BBC iPlayer, while co-ordinator Hollie Gibson will work across both teams.
