Liz Tucker hosts Sky Documentaries Commissioning Event - 24 June 2021

On Thursday evening, Liz Tucker chaired a WFTV Meet the Commissioner Event with Poppy Dixon, Director, Documentaries and Factual; and Hayley Reynolds, the Commissioning Editor who works alongside Poppy at Sky. During the event, Poppy and Hayley talked through what they look for when commissioning a documentary and played some clips of upcoming shows.

Biographies, music, crime and contemporary history docs are very much on the wanted list. Poppy said that she wanted Sky Documentaries to be known as the destination for premium docs in the UK. It's remit is not to be a broad, factual channel. It has placed an emphasis on 90 minute documentary films, alongside closed-ended box-set series.

And Hayley explained that there are commissioning opportunities in a number of areas. The team aims to commission 12 feature docs and 12 series a year.
